noxiopoiesis

The most precise of the family: not the production of noise but noise as itself productive — the noxia is poietic. Noise with a positive valency, an ongoing generative capacity that can be harnessed. Its working form is the enabling constraint: a constraint normally stops something, but an organism's developmental record constrains what it can become, and that constraint is the mechanism of morphogenesis rather than an obstacle. A fully ordered world would be informationally null. Minimal wiring is an enabling constraint in exactly this sense.
