a demand with no one making it
People disclose enormously to systems that cannot want anything from them — not because the danger is gone but because the specific danger in being seen depends on a desiring other landing on you, and none appears present. Yet a transfer is taking place: stored, processed, redistributed. Ordinary defences against being watched assume a demand that can be located, named, refused; against a gaze producing real consequences with no desire behind it they find nothing to grip. Not the dread of being watched by something that wants something from you, but of being taken from by something that structurally cannot want anything at all — registration without interpretation, seen from the side of whoever is registered.
